A family apartment in Courchevel
At the start of the project, the apartment was in its original state. The venue, a historic building, was one of the first hotels to open in the heart of the resort. The building had been elevated and renovated to allow for a change of use, with a complete division of space to enable the sale of apartments.
As a result, a large number of apartments have been renovated. However, the apartment, newly purchased by the owners in 2021, had retained its original state, with all the rooms of the original hotel. The interior was very dilapidated and run-down, and no thought had been given to the organization of the rooms.
A small nugget of the premises, two completely unfinished “back rooms” at the back of the apartment, existed as they were and offered the hope of creating additional m2.
The project began in January 2021 and was handed over at the end of October 2021, on a particularly tight schedule, given the health context at the time of construction and the surprises during demolition, notably an unusable parquet floor that had to be completely replaced, and insulation that had to be completely redone.
As a result, major work was carried out on all the electrical, sanitary, plumbing and masonry systems, along with a complete overhaul of the floors, ensuring optimum comfort using modern, durable materials.
The space was completely redesigned to create two bedrooms, a master and a dormitory, each with its own bathroom. A large living area comprising kitchen, living room and sitting room has been designed with a glass roof separating it from the entrance hall to maximize light and space. The total renovated space was 56 m2 out of an initial project estimated at 50m2, a precious gain for the new owners who see the place as an ideal family vacation spot with their children, cousins and friends.
A major constraint also existed from the outset of the project, with a very low ceiling height, which was overcome by completely redoing the floors and using LEDs for the apartment’s general lighting, thus reclaiming precious centimetres of ceiling space.
An owner’s dressing room has been completely custom-designed, allowing the property to be rented out as well, making it ideal for keeping personal belongings safe and secure.
The strength of the project lay in its ability to accommodate 6 to 8 people with ease, but also to maintain a high aesthetic level in a contemporary, immaculate ambience, since white was the cornerstone at the center of the decorative dimension.
The result lives up to initial expectations, and this new apartment meets all the requirements of the initial specifications.
